Shishido Mia (Japan)

Shiyuri Shishido is a Japanese artist with a Latin American background. Her growth environment revolved around Japanese and Colombian culture. The intersection of various colors and cultures inspired her enthusiasm for art. She graduated from Tama Art University in Tokyo, Japan, majoring in textile art design. While in college, she was awarded the "Barbara Shapiro Award" for her outstanding performance in the NewBeat International Textile Art Competition in Vasaka, Mexico. At present, she is wholeheartedly committed to artistic creation and the distribution of personal clothing related to modern culture.

Shiyuri Shishido sees her work as a window to a parallel world. She created a world in which the beauty of Japan's Edo period runs counter to the power of modern Western culture. Her artistic style reflects the traditional Japanese ink and wash skills, showing the characteristics of requiring a lot of time and attention to detail. When creating, she only used Japanese black ink, some plastic color paint and gold leaf to paint. The limitation of this material is to strike a perfect balance between simple and complex concepts.
